What is it about an open door that makes you want to look through to the other side? Our featured artist, Chris Thompson, gives us the opportunity to consider that in his painting, “The Mission.” It certainly appears the courtyard in which the viewer stands is a warm and peaceful place to be. Nonetheless you can’t help but wonder what’s outside through that archway? In his special exhibit, Chris tends toward colorful natural settings. As you imagine the sounds of birds singing in the trees or water murmuring in a stream, each of his works tends to leave you a little more calm than when you came.
