Can you feel the adrenaline rush of these competitors? The Challenge this month was “Sailboat” and PAPA artist John McLaren gave us much more than a boat in “Key West Race Week.” First he provides an exhilarating tableau of sun, wind and waves as the basis for the scene. The contenders he’s painted seem fierce in their desire to prevail. The clear blue sky becomes background against the brilliant turquoise and aqua colors of the south Florida waters. The flashing colors of the sails and clothing fuel the overall energy of the scene. It’s hard not to feel caught up in the outcome of the race.
Our artists delivered an awesome variety of sailboat images. Some are tranquil against colorful skies, some are cleverly humorous, some seem in danger of being lost at sea, but all feed your imagination. Perhaps one of them belongs with you.
