During these long hot dry days of late summer, it feels like a special treat to find a cool shady spot. PAPA artist Dutch Thurman shares one in her painting “Garlic Gone Wild.” Following the almost hidden pathway, you reach the cool beneath the trees through blossoms and sprawling leaves that tickle your legs. The stacked pots near the picket fence seem to convey the loving care of the gardener and make it all the more welcoming. You might imagine yourself finding a comfortable place to sit and ponder the wonder of a simple green space. Close your eyes a moment and the songs of birds accompanied by other nature sounds complete the scene.

Though it may be hard to tear yourself away from this one, our walls are filled with many other fresh paintings in our new fall show. Come visit the PAPA Gallery when you’re downtown Paducah to see for yourself. We love to simply enjoy art with you!
