This summer heat, has forced me to the Art Room! Kind of sick and sad to admit, but once there, I have been productive and had fun!! Now, I hate to brag, but I have 10 paintings for the $10 Fundraiser! I hope you are taking this time to work ahead, too!
We have several opportunities to share our art. Plein Air Paducah 2026 is Aug. 21st and 22nd. Entry fees is $25 for Yeiser non-members, $20 for members. Aug. 21st bring canvas or other painting surface to the Yeiser, to be stamped. Aug. 22nd return completed work by 4:00. Reception and awards 5-7. Prizes $200 to 1st, $150, 2nd, and $50 3rd.
Easter Seals is asking for donations to a Silent Auction, part of their Fall Festival, Oct. 16, 4-7 at 1908 N. 14th. St. Proceeds will go to special events, community outings, and educating the participants of the Adult program. Our own Chris Thompson is a participant in this program and really benefited, as we see his work! Please bring your donation to the Sept. meeting, I will deliver them.
Classic Rides and Retro Vibes, Show in a Show will begin Sept.15th. Bring your work any time prior to that date, 4 minis, no larger than 8 x 10. Sept 19th our hours will be extended 3-7. At the end of Oct., paintings not sold will go into the Gallery Show. Cindy tells me this promotion is really growing in interest! Cars line both sides of the street, and scores of people fill the streets and sidewalks!
I must compliment your Gallery Show. Many have commented on the quality of your work, improving with each show!
Time for our meeting, Aug. 25th, 7:00 at the Gallery. Diane will begin a 6 part series on Foundations of Composition, aided by Ian Roberts. The first part, “What Is Good Composition?” Bring your thinking caps! By the way, Diane’s Sailboat Challenge Painting, has been accepted into a Show in Gloucester, Ma.! We are so proud of her.
The Challenge is “Turning a Page from a Coloring Book Into a Masterpiece”. Sailboat paintings was record..20 pieces!
Jean Lorrah’s Featured Artist Show, was most complete, with “back stories” of each work! Thank you, for supporting her lovely reception! A good time was had by all!
Thanks, to Cindy and Suzanne, for remodeling the back of the Rack Card. They did an excellent job!
