Spring brings so many long awaited pleasures! PAPA artist Martha Brown provides a sentimental reminder in her painting “Puppy Love.” Sharing a red umbrella, this young couple seems to be enjoying a moment. Standing in the middle of a cityscape with pouring rain all around, they appear oblivious to anything but each other. Even if you never had one of these moments, you can view this scene and imagine what they might be feeling. Martha’s use of color brings the pair into focus right away. Her brush strokes help us appreciate the ferocity of the downpour along with all the accompanying sounds. “Puppy Love” is just one delightful painting among many in our spring show.
