Sonja Halstead

Sonja Halstead

Sonja was raised in Southeast Missouri where she still resides. She is a mother, wife, grandmother, Christian, and a person who loves fishing and being outdoors admiring God’s abounding beauty. She has always had a love of art since a small child. Her grandmother was an artist as well and she remembers watching her as a child creating beauty on the canvas.

She mostly works in oils these days, but also enjoys working in acrylics and pastels. She is predominantly a self taught artist and has been painting and selling her work for more than 20 years. In 2017 she attended a workshop given by Don Sahli. She also attended another workshop by Don in 2018. In February 2019, she began taking portrait painting classes with Cleda Curtis and continues weekly classes to date.

Through the years she has sold paintings all over the US and Internationally through on line platforms. Two of her paintings were used on the set of an independent movie “Princess Syd”, filmed in Chicago Illinois. She placed 2nd place in the 33rd Annual Bootheel Regional Judged Art Show on September 8, 2017 in Sikeston Missouri.
