Paul grew up in a small town in central Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University. After serving 3 years as a Naval Officer, he joined Goodyear International Company and with his wife Pat and their two girls lived in India for 2 ½ years and Venezuela for 5 ½ years.
He retired from Goodyear in 1998 after 35 years and lived in Union City, TN since 1978. He painted periodically all his life, but was not able to devote time to it until retirement in 1998. Without formal training, he learned by trial and error.
During the last several years of his life, he won several blue ribbons in the Obion County Fair and five Best of Show ribbons. He won first and second place in oil at the Paducah Women’s Club Show in 2007, a third place in 2009, first place in 2010, second place in 2011, first place in 2012 and a second place in 2016.
He joined the Paducah Area Painters Alliance (PAPA) in 2007 and exhibited paintings in every show until his death in 2017.
His paintings are in private collections in Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, California, Arkansas, and Minnesota.
