At the early age of five, I was inspired with drawing and art by my father, Elmer Poole, and the love of colors and creativeness by my mother, Verma Washburn Poole.
Since there was not an art class offered where I attended school, I enrolled at the Indiana School of Arts for several years. Over the last few years, as I have become more involved in my art, I have had some encouraging and helpful experiences by founding an art club, participating in art shows, selling my art work, attending workshops, and being a workshop coordinator for the internationally known Master Artist Johannes Vloothuis.
My most treasured time is being a charter member of the Paducah Artist Painters Alliance (PAPA), which was founded by Master Artist Clyde Lawter in 1991. He is also my mentor and my most meaningful study was in his workshop. He said, “It doesn’t matter what you paint ...just paint something.” He also said, “You also need to know that an artist might paint 10 paintings and have only one that would be worth showing.” This has helped me not to give up through the years.
My workshop studies include landscapes, wildlife, still life and portraits. Mediums: acrylics, oils, watercolors and colored pencils.
I will continue to learn and know that art is part of God’s beautiful world, and that He is the best artist of all. When one of my paintings looks pretty good, I know that it was by His hand that it happened.
Thank you for your interest in my artwork.
