Bird of a Different Feather
Pastel, Won 2nd Place in
Congressman's Ed Whitefield's Art Competition
I have always been interested in art and enjoy the challenges presented by each piece of artwork. While I like to dabble in many different mediums, I am drawn most towards charcoal, pastels, ink, and watercolors.
As a Paducah native, I am always finding inspiration by the beautiful city that surrounds me. Every block downtown contains a gem that I aim to accurately portray in a piece of artwork. My intent is to show parts of Paducah in a way that is simple but still contains the beauty of the building.
I have been blessed with a flexibility to pursue my artistic interests and plan to continue pursuing an art driven career. I have always been exposed to new teaching through classes taken with local artists and at Paducah School of Art and Design and will continue at Southeast Missouri State University. I joined the Paducah Area Painters Alliance in 2013 and appreciate having a place to display my work and gain experience working in a gallery. I also regularly display and sell my work in Ochre, an art gallery in the Coke Plant in downtown Paducah.
I have always been encouraged by the success that I have had so far in my pursuits. I have won numerous awards through the Women’s Club Art show, McCracken County Fair, Kentucky State Fair, Teen Spirit at the Yeiser Art Center, Paducah School of Art and Design. I have been blessed with many opportunities to have my artwork displayed across the country in shows and personal collections.
Through my artwork, I want to be able to convey what I love and what is close to my heart. I am passionate about creating and enjoy the ability to create art on what was once a blank page.
