Rejoice and Be Glad
Sing to the Lord
The transparent nature of watercolor has always fascinated me. I’m constantly captivated by how simply the glow of light can dramatically enhance any subject. God’s beautiful handiwork in nature and life continues to inspire me. While still learning to express that radiance and freshness in each of my paintings, my hope is that the works I create will bring glory to God and also be a source of encouragement to others.
As long as I can remember I’ve had a love for art. I was born in Florida, but moved to Texas at a young age. I earned a B.A. Degree in Art at Dallas Baptist College (now University). My main focus through the years has been watercolor painting and calligraphy. I frequently combine both watercolor and calligraphy within my paintings.
Beginning in 1987, several of my works were published through Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. and the Scafa Art Publishing Company. Opportunities to expand my art education have been through artist’s workshops as well as learning from leading artists’ videos and books. In 1994, my husband and I, with our 2 children, moved from Grand Prairie, Texas (near Dallas) to Mayfield, Kentucky.
My work has been accepted many times throughout the past 20 years in the Juried art show at the Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild. Other opportunities have opened up at various places and times to show my work. Numerous people have bought my paintings and calligraphy at my church auction held each year by Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cunningham, KY.
Awards I've received include:
