Home of the Paducah Area Painters Alliance
Betty was born and raised in Dickson County, Tennessee in a very small place called Bon Aqua. A beautiful name for a beautiful place. A place of hills and woods and fast running water. She loved the wild things and wild places around her. Her love of art formed and grew in those beautiful wild places.
Being basically self taught, she decided to study under several artists whose work she admired. In doing so, she has developed her own style resulting in bold expressive paintings. Although she works in other mediums, water color remains her medium of choice. She finds the transparent, luminous quality of watercolor suits her style of painting.
Betty belongs to several art organizations and considers those vital to the on going learning process. She has won several awards for her work. Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections.
In her words "Art is a magnificent obsession. It is also my passion. I believe you should work at your art everyday. Do not become stagnant and complacent in your work. You must keep learning, keep seeking the rainbow. It's a wonderful journey."
